Climate Change Media Partnership—Reporting Fellowship to COP24

December 8, 2018 - December 15, 2018

Katowice, Poland

As part of this year’s Climate Change Media Partnership (CCMP), the Stanley Foundation is collaborating with Internews’ Earth Journalism Network to organize a reporting fellowship that will bring a group of twenty developing-country journalists to cover two major global climate summits. Selected from an open call for applications, participating journalists will attend the Global Climate Action Summit (GCAS) in San Francisco, California, from September 10–15, and the 24th Conference of the Parties (COP24) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Katowice, Poland, from December 8–15.  During the summits, fellows will receive training and guidance from seasoned climate journalists and will participate in briefings and other programmed activities to foster and strengthen reporting.

The CCMP has brought journalists from developing countries to UN climate summits since 2007. This is the second time that the Stanley Foundation and the CCMP have partnered to offer this program, and the first time the program will bring fellows to two climate summits in the same year.  More details on the fellowship and a list of participating journalists can be found in the announcement here.

As a part of our efforts to limit global warming to 1.5° C, the foundation put forward policy ideas to achieve a global turning point in emissions by 2020, built upon efforts to catalyze global climate action by countries and sub- and non-state actors, and worked with journalists to strengthen coverage of the UN climate negotiations.

59th Strategy for Peace Conference 59th Strategy for Peace Conference
The Stanley Foundation convenes its Strategy for Peace Conference annually to consider key policy challenges, drawing on the experience and knowledge of invited experts from the public and private sectors.

At the conference concurrent roundtables are focused on each of the foundation’s three current areas of programming—climate changenuclear policy, and mass violence and atrocities. This year a fourth roundtable will focus on global governance. Roundtable discussion is intended to generate group consensus recommendations for policy change and multilateral action. More.
